7 Insta Worthy Spots in Auckland City Center.

Hello my Charmings!

Be Kind to your photographer. The power of EDITING is in their hands. — Anonymous

As I am writing this blog, we are currently on Level 3 lockdown for the second time. Hoping that this will end soon so I can show you more of how it is living in a very scenic country like New Zealand. Everywhere you go in this country gives you a lot of photo opportunities. So while I am stuck here at home, I will give you 7 Insta worthy spots in Auckland city center.

Britomart

1. Britomart. It is situated just above the busiest train station so you won’t miss it. It’s a nine-block precinct so there are a lot of perfect spots for your perfect photo. But for me, it depends on what kind of story you want to show as this is a place of old and new, past and present. A place with so much history and still surrounded by trendy boutiques and highly rated restaurants. The best part that captures my eye in this place is the fairy lights at night that encapsulate a dreamy night vibe.

Viaduct Harbour

2. Viaduct Harbour. It is located in and around the waterfront of Auckland. A place perfect for a night out as this place is surrounded by trendy bars and restaurants. A perfect place for a photo op with yachts and boats floating around as your backdrop. Depending on the angle, you can capture the trendy bars, the floating yachts and the Iconic Sky Tower… all encompassed in one perfect photo.

TIPS: The best time to come here is at night time to best capture the trendy scene.

Elevated Walkway in Silo Park

3. Elevated Walkway in Silo Park. This is just a few meters away from Viaduct Harbour (connected via a bridge). From this walkway you can see the Harbour Bridge and the twinkling lights of the city. What made this spot on my list is the geometrical lines that make you feel you’re in a Scifi movie. With proper lighting and angle you’ll capture a perfect photo with the lines and the dominating blue lights of the Harbour Bridge as a backdrop.

TIPS: Come here during night time, as the lights coming from the walkway gives that scifi-feel — if you’re after that — and the Harbour Bridge is also lit up at that time of the day.

Albert Park

4. Albert Park. As we all know New Zealand is known for its amazing greeneries. You don’t only see them outside the city but IN the city itself. This place is just one (of many) of the best parks situated in Auckland City Center. You’ll see quite a few people here during lunch time, enjoying their outdoor garden-feel lunch. The best photo spot for a different angle of the Sky Tower.

Victoria Park

5. Victoria Park. This park is situated on the west side of the Auckland City Centre and is home to Victoria Park Market. It is bigger than Albert Park as this is a size of an actual rugby field and more. This Park has big trees lined across the pathway and long leafy branches that provide shade on those garden benches. The shade creates that shadow that can give your photos more depth of color and realism. I can’t believe that this park is in the city but still makes you feel out of it.

FUN FACT: This park was used as a temporary morgue when the flu pandemic hit in the 1900’s, so spooky I know but so interesting.

The Lightpath / Pink Path

6. The Lightpath/Pink Path. There’s another name this place is also called, Nelson Street Cycleway. Most people come here to walk, cycle and use their e-scooter. This place is a good contrast to everything around it because of its color, Pink. It has a mood lighting system that changes so this spot is good for a photo op day or night.

Sky Tower / Sky City

7. Sky Tower/Sky City. The iconic symbol of Auckland. It is a place for risk-takers — people who love adrenaline activities and playing at the casino. It is also a home of world class restaurants and accommodation with an amazing view. You’ll never miss this one, towering at 328 meters for 20 years, this can be seen anywhere in the city centre.

FUN FACT: Depending on the day of the month, the lighting color changes. It is to show support for different organizations, charities and of course special events. But with the exception of Earth Hour, Memorial Day and Death of important people (when it is not lit).
