Hello my Charmings,
Always hike with someone in worse shape than you. There’s bears out there you know.

It’s been a while since my last post. It’s been quite a challenge for me these past few weeks to be in that sort of place to be able to do something productive at least.
Anyway, I just wanted to share what is happening and trying to be true and transparent on what I’ve been dealing with currently. For now, I was able to get out, clear my head and get excited about sharing my day adventure in Waiheke Island.
My husband and I woke up a bit earlier than usual as our ferry leaves at 9am. Since it’s a weekend holiday, we came a bit earlier to avoid long queue. We booked our return ticket online through Fullers as it will give you a fair discount rather than buying it on the spot one way. AT Hop Card (Auckland Transport) can be used for ferry rides and will give you the same discount as booking return online.
TIP: Avoid buying cash one way as as it will cost you $27, whereas buying return online will cost you $42 ($21 one way) same as using an AT Hop card. Tickets are valid for a year so you can rock up anytime, just be wary on holidays as it tends to get full quickly.
It was a pretty busy morning. People from Auckland and Devonport wanting to have a glimpse of the paradise island. And not to forget, have a taste of Waiheke’s fine wine. We, on the other hand, have a different agenda in mind –Tramping. It’s another way of experiencing the Island. Others explore it by taste, we chose to explore it by walking.
The island is very straight forward. If you have a ticket for wine and dine, there will be buses waiting as soon as you get out of the terminal. We on the other hand went straight to the trail tracks.

The very scenic route coupled with a very nice weather makes this walk an amazing experience. Everywhere you look is just picturesque.

some trails are in between bushes…

and some require climbing, as there are slopes…

and stairs, which you need to be prepared for, as there’s quite a few of them.

We stopped for a late lunch at Oneroa in a Fish and Chips shop called The Local. We have to take it away as they are already closing. Walked a bit to the beach and had an amazing lunch.

All in all, those bushes, slopes and stairs we have to go through I can say it’s all worth it seeing a paradise of an Island (trail walk video).

Maybe next time will do the taste experience and maybe stay a night to explore more.
This island has too much to offer from wine tasting, yacht charters, diving and snorkeling to ziplining. Definitely not to miss while visiting Auckland.

Wow, the views from the Vantage point looks absolutely stunning. I’m glad to hear you had a great time. Thanks for sharing and have a good day 😀 Aiva
